Glenn Mitchell Jr. has worked with children and youth for over fifteen years. Prior to teaching, he worked as a social worker, assisting and advocating for children placed in foster care. He began his young career in 2006 as a third grade teacher at Skinner Magnet Center. In his first year as a third grade teacher, he was recognized by the Omaha Education Association as runner up for “Rookie of the Year” an award that is given to the first year teacher from the district that demonstrates the ability to teach exceptionally well in their first year in the profession. While serving at Skinner Magnet Center, Mitchell has served on many committees to assist in better student achievement. He currently serves on the Omaha Public School’s diversity committee which focuses on continuing to work on ways the district can improve its Unity through Diversity initiative. Mitchell is a devout father and husband. He also volunteers his time as a youth football coach/director for the Omaha Gladiators football organization. He has volunteered his time in this endeavor for over five years. Mitchell is currently working on his Masters degree in Education Administration at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
