Nancy Wedberg began her teaching career after graduating from Dana College in Blair, Nebraska. She taught special education for Fremont Public Schools and was also a resource specialist for Educational Service Unit #2. After receiving her master’s degree in school counseling from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Nancy was hired by Westside Community Schools as an elementary guidance counselor.
For the past sixteen years Nancy has served as elementary guidance counselor at schools including: Rockbrook, Prairie Lane and Sunset Hills. She is currently director of the K-6 counseling team and leads the elementary Crisis Response Team for the Westside Community School district. Nancy is also a member of the district’s Anti-Bullying Committee and Rockbrook’s Safe and Drug Free Committee. Her interest in the unique needs of all learners led her to serve as counselor on the Excellence in Youth Committee and to co-teach a self-development class for high ability students.
Nancy became a trained facilitator at the Love and Logic Institute in January of 2006. Since then, she has assisted, encouraged and supported over 150 parents through ‘Becoming a Love and Logic Parent’ classes. Nancy’s interest in grief issues led her to work as an end of life counselor at Our Lady of Sorrows Convent, a hospice volunteer for Odyssey Healthcare and a facilitator for grief and loss in-services as a part of staff development within her school district
Nancy is excited to be a part of, what will hopefully become, the first of several inter-district schools. She looks forward to this new collaborative adventure with students, parents and staff from Elkhorn, Omaha Public Schools and Westside Community Schools.
